The device has an integral 3-state mode to drive the output stage into a high-impedance state and also to reduce the supply current to less than 3.5 mA. The combination of high output current and 3-state outputs makes the TLE2301 ideal for implementing the signalling transformer driver in mains-based telemetering modems. This combination of features also makes the device well suited for other high-current applications (e.g., motor drivers and audio circuits). Using the Texas Instruments established Excalibur process, the TLE2301 is able to achieve slew rates in excess of 12 V/ µs and a gain- bandwidth product of 8 MHz. The TLE2301 uses a 16-pin NE power package to provide better power handling capabilities than standard dual-in- line packages. The TLE2301 is characterized for operation over the industrial temperature range of – 40 °C to 85 °C.
