Forinputoperation,theseportsarenon-latching,whichmeanstheinputsmustbereadyattheT2 risingedgeofinstruction"MOVA,[m]",wheremdenotestheportaddress.Foroutputoperation,all thedataislatchedandremainsunchangeduntiltheoutputlatchisrewritten. Pull-high Resistors Manyproductapplicationsrequirepull-highresistorsfortheirswitchinputsusuallyrequiringtheuse ofanexternalresistor.Toeliminatetheneedfortheseexternalresistors,whenconfiguredasaninput havethecapabilityofbeingconnectedtoaninternalpull-highresistor.Thesepull-highresistorsare selectableviaaregisterknownasPAPU,PBPU,PCPU,PDPU,PEPUandPFPUlocatedintheData Memory.Thepull-highresistorsareimplementedusingweakPMOStransistors.NotethatpinPA7 doesnothaveapull-highresistorselection. Port A Wake-up IftheHALTinstructionisexecuted,thedevicewillentertheIdle/SleepMode,wherethesystem clockwillstopresultinginpowerbeingconserved,afeaturethatisimportantforbatteryandother low-powerapplications. Variousmethodsexisttowake-upthemicrocontroller,oneofwhichistochangethelogiccondition ononeofthePA0~PA7pinsfromhightolow.AfteraHALTinstructionforcesthemicrocontroller intoenteringtheIdle/SleepMode,theprocessorwillremainidleorinalow-powerstateuntilthe logicconditionoftheselectedwake-uppinonPortAchangesfromhightolow.Thisfunctionis especiallysuitableforapplicationsthatcanbewokenupviaexternalswitches.NotethatpinsPA0 toPA7canbeselectedindividuallytohavethiswake-upfeatureusinganinternalregisterknownas PAWK,locatedintheDataMemory. |
