5 / 10 page  Rev. 1.00 5 April 20, 2016 HT45B0003/HT45B0005 Function Description Thesedevicesprovideawaytotransmitandreceive dataonthecommonpowerlinesofaninterconnected arrayofmicrocontrollerbasedsubsystems.Byhaving oneofthesedevicesinsideeachsubsystem,the sharedpoweranddatacablingcanbereducedtoa simpletwolinetype,offeringmajorinstallationcost reductions. Shared Power Line Allmicrocontrollerbasedsubsystemsareconnected togetherviathesametwolinepowerconnection.The groundlineishardwiredtoeachsubsystemwhilethe positivepowerlineisconnectedtotheVCCpinon eachoftheHT45B000xdevices.AninternalLow DropoutVoltageRegulatorwithintheHT45B000x devicesconvertsthisinputpowersupplyvoltagetoa fixedvoltagelevelwhichissuppliedtothesubsystem microcontrollerandothercircuitcomponents.Inthis waywhenthepowerlinevoltageischangeddueto thetransmissionorreceptionofdatathesubsystem circuitsstillcontinuetoreceivearegulatedpower supply. Data Transmission (From Master Controller to Slave Device) Refer to the application circuit when reading thefollowingdescription.Themastercontroller transmitesthedatabymodulatethepositibepower line (L+) voltage. Using this method should be payattentiontothenoisetoleranceofthedevices operatingvoltageandtheTRXpinreceivingdata.As thedevicesincludeavoltageregulatorwhichisused asthepowersupplytothesubsystemunits,thenthe subsystempowersupplyvoltagewillnotbeaffected aslongastheregulatorminimumdropoutvoltageis maintained.Thenavoltagemodulationsignalwillbe detectedintheTRXpintomaketheTRXpinvoltage droplowerthanthethresholdvoltage(VT).However areductioninthepowersupplywillbedetected bytheCMPinternalcomparator.Theoutputofthis comparatorisconnectedtopinRXcanbeconnected toamicrocontrollerinputforuseasadatasignal. VTRX VT VRX VVDD VMARK Power Line Data Reception Data Reception (From Slave Device to Master Controller) Refertotheapplicationcircuitwhenreadingthe following description. The HT45B000X slave devicescantransmitdatatothemastercontroller bymodulatingthecurrentonthepowersupplyline. TheslavedevicespulltheTXpinvoltagetoalow leveltoenabletheinternalcurrentmodulator.The modeulatorwillprovideaconstantcurrentloadbythe transistorconnectedtotheinternalmodulatorOPA outputNMOSterminal.Theconstantcurrentload issuppliedbythepowerlinethroughtheTRXpin, andcanbeadjustedbytheRSresistorconnectedon theISpin.Therefore,thecurrentmodulationsignals canbegeneratedontheTRXpinbycontroltheTX pinvoltagelevel.Thecurrentmodulationsignalcan returntothemastercontrollerthroughthepower supplyline.
