WhentwodevicescommunicatewitheachotheronthebidirectionalI2Cbus,oneisknownas themasterdeviceandoneastheslavedevice.Bothmasterandslavecantransmitandreceive data,however,itisthemasterdevicethathasoverallcontrolofthebus.Forthesedevices,which onlyoperatesinslavemode,therearetwomethodsoftransferringdataontheI2Cbus,theslave transmitmodeandtheslavereceivemode.
